Helping Bees Thrive
4 tips to introduce bees into your garden.
1. Avoid using chemical pesticides and herbicides, especially during blooming periods
2. Plant bee-friendly plants that bloom all year round. Native flowers, herbs and fruit bearing plants provide essential nectar and pollen.
3. Provide a water source, a bird bath or shallow dish with pebbles on the bottom for them to stand on. Bees don't like getting their feet wet!
4. Have a place they can call home. Some dead wood, a pile of branches, bee hotels or insect houses to offer nesting sites for solitary bees.
We have a large garden and have planted bee friendly plants like Lavender, Borage, Geranium, Cosmos, Daisies, Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme. The herbs ramble amongst the plants along with a mandarin tree and a lemon tree. They are in bloom now and smell heavenly. The bees are loving it and so are we!
